Stolen Purpose—When Purpose Gets Hijacked

The Battle for Your Destiny
The enemy doesn’t always come with obvious traps. Sometimes he comes with good ideas that lead us away from God’s best.
At times, settling for good can cost you the greatness God designed for your life, and why aligning with His purpose is the key to living uniquely, boldly, and beyond your limits.

The enemy often pulls us away from our God-given purpose using the simplest and most unexpected tactics.
Let me explain.
There was a young man who was a photographer, and a young woman who simply enjoyed photography. One day, while scrolling through social media, the young woman came across the man’s page. She was amazed at his skills and how brilliantly he was able to make a living through photography.
As she admired his work, a thought crossed her mind: “I can do that too.”
Boom—there it was.
That single thought seemed harmless, even inspiring. But little did she realize, it wasn’t from God—it was a subtle seed planted by the enemy.
You might ask, “How could that be from Satan?” Here’s why: God’s plan for the young woman was for her to become a billionaire—not for her own luxury, but so she could create jobs, build businesses, transform lives, win souls for His Kingdom, and impact people and nations on a scale far greater than she could ever imagine (1 Corinthians 2:9).
Photography at that scale, wasn’t part of her predestined plan. If she pursued it, she’d get caught up in a business God never called her to, trading time for money, and miss out on the bigger strategy God had designed for her—things like real estate, entrepreneurship, and other ventures that aligned with her true calling.
Therefore, pursuing photography and mimicking the young man’s path would disrupt the divine plan God had already established for her.
Make no mistake, there's nothing wrong with the young man's business or career choice; he's successful and he loves what he does. However, it's not the path God designed for the woman, nor is it part of her life's script or Book of Life (Psalm 139:16; Jeremiah 29:11; Malachi 3:16; Psalm 56:8; Revelation 20:12), and it would have lessened the greatness within her.
Here’s the kicker: yes, media was indeed part of God’s plan for her, but on a much grander scale and the enemy knew this.
How many times have you, or someone you know, heard a prophetic word and rushed to act on it without waiting for God’s instructions? The enemy loves to use things like impatience and ignorance to push us ahead of God, making us feel like we have to figure it all out ourselves. But what if God already had the right opportunity lined up for you—and your hurry caused you to miss it?
If she had chosen to follow the young man's path rather than waiting for God to guide her steps and pursuing her own journey (Psalm 37:23-24; Proverbs 16:9), she would have settled for something good, but not God’s best for her.
Many of us are living lives that are good, but not God’s best. And when we settle for less than God’s best, we don’t stand out. We fail to show the world how real the promise of 1 Corinthians 2:9 truly is. Our lives lose the mark of being unique, extraordinary, victorious, and overcoming—the kind of life that reflects who God is. Instead, we end up living beneath our true value, worth, and God-given potential.
This is how the enemy works. He doesn’t always tempt us with obvious baits. Sometimes he distracts us with things that look good, feel good, and even seem smart, but they lead us away from our true, God-ordained destiny.
God created us with a purpose in mind, and when we don't align with that purpose, then we're living below our worth. Simply, you’re settling for less than what God created you for.
A person keeps their destiny from being hijacked by staying submitted to God’s voice, grounded in His Word, and patient in His timing, because Scripture tells us to trust in the Lord with all our heart and not lean on our own understanding, and He will direct our paths (Proverbs 3:5–6). When we wait on the Lord, He renews our strength and keeps us from rushing into wrong doors (Isaiah 40:31; Psalm 27:14).
By testing every word and opportunity (1 John 4:1; 1 Thessalonians 5:21), guarding our hearts and taking every thought captive (Proverbs 4:23; 2 Corinthians 10:5), and letting God order our steps daily (Psalm 37:23; Proverbs 16:9), we stay aligned with His will.
As we seek first the Kingdom, delight ourselves in Him, walk in obedience, and remain humble and dependent on God (John 15:5), we position ourselves to follow His perfect will, not just what looks good (Romans 12:2).
When we put on the armor of God and resist the devil, he must flee, and with wise counsel there is safety. In doing all this, we remember that our days were already written in His book and that He has plans to prosper us and give us a future (Psalm 139:16; Jeremiah 29:11), so we don’t have to create our destiny—we simply walk it out, refusing to settle for good when God has prepared His best (Ephesians 2:10).

A call for salvation
When you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, His Spirit becomes one with yours. This is one of the greatest blessings of salvation. You no longer need to go through anyone else to reach God—because you and He are now united.
All you need to do is receive the gift of salvation by repenting of your sins, inviting Jesus into your life, and confessing Him as Lord. This involves acknowledging your sin and the need for forgiveness, believing that Jesus died for your sins and rose again, and then surrendering your life to Him.
As Romans 10:9 declares, “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” And 1 John 4:15 assures us, “If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.”
Another important step is to renounce the kingdom of darkness. By doing so, you are breaking any covenant or partnership with it and recommitting yourself to the Kingdom of Light—Jesus Christ.
When you take this step, you are saved and welcomed into God’s Kingdom—becoming a member of the family of Christ!
Here's a Prayer that you can pray to get saved:
"Jesus, I confess that You are Lord, and I believe in my heart that You died and rose again for my sins. I know that I am a sinner, and I repent and ask for Your forgiveness. I invite You to come into my heart and life, and I receive You as my personal Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Renounce the Kingdom of Darkness
Right now, I renounce and break all ties, covenants, and agreements with the kingdom of darkness, knowingly or unknowingly made. I reject Satan, all his works, and every influence of evil over my life.
Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Lead me, teach me, and establish me in Your purpose. From this day forward, I belong to Jesus. I am a child of God, and I walk in the light. In Jesus' name, Amen.
After this step, pray for guidance to find a ministry where you can grow spiritually, gain knowledge about the kingdom, and begin living the abundant life promised by Jesus.
