Life is full of moments where God wants to move in extraordinary ways—but too often, doubt and disbelief surround us. Satan sees these moments as opportunities to plant fear and uncertainty in our hearts, making us question if God’s power can really work through us.
In Mark 5, we see Jesus face this exact scenario when He went to raise a young girl from the dead and was laughed at.
This story isn’t just about a miracle. It’s about authority. It's about knowing how to walk in the power God has given you—even when people doubt you.
In this blog, we’ll explore how you too can remove the noise of doubt, move in your God-given authority to live a victorious life.

Mark 5:36-43 NIV
36 Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”
37 He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James.38 When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly.39 He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.”40 But they laughed at him.
After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was.41 He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!”(which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”).42 Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished.43 He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about this, and told them to give her something to eat.
In Mark 5, we see Jesus raise a young girl back to life. But before the miracle unfolded, He walked into a scene of chaos. People were weeping, wailing, crying, mourning, and when Jesus declared, “The child is not dead but asleep,” they laughed at Him.
That moment was both powerful and sad.
How often have you shared what God is about to do in your life, only to be met with doubt, ridicule, or silent disbelief? Some may not laugh out loud, but in their hearts they dismiss what you said, they dismiss your faith, calling it unrealistic, foolish, or even impossible.
This is why sometimes it’s wise to say less—especially around people who lack faith. You must protect your assignment and don't involve those around you who have doubt.
Do What Jesus Did And Drown Out The Noise
Remove the commotion from your thoughts, distance yourself from those with little to no faith and only gather around and share with those who believe. And if you have no one, that's still ok.
Not everything you do or every step you take needs to be shared with others. It's perfectly fine to keep some things private.
Jesus responded by removing the doubters from the room. He kept only those closest to Him—Peter, James, John, John's brother, and the girl’s parents. In doing so, He created an atmosphere of faith, free from ridicule, disbelief, and doubters.
When Doubt Refuses To Leave
Satan is an opportunist through and through, and he often sees moments like this as the perfect chance to plant seeds of doubt or fear in our minds. He’ll try to make you question what you just witnessed or heard, whispering thoughts like, “Maybe they’re right… is it really possible for this child to be raised back to life?”
How often have you let doubtful thoughts swirl around in your mind when faced with a seemingly impossible task? (2 Corinthians 10:3–5; James 1:6–8). When these thoughts begin to take over, you must resist, reject, and counter them with the word of God (Ephesians 6:16–17; Matthew 4:4). Remind that doubt that through Christ, you can accomplish anything (Philippians 4:13; Luke 1:37; Mark 9:23). And remember that God completes everything He intends (Philippians 1:6; Isaiah 46:10). Also, He is loyal, faithful (Lamentations 3:22–23), capable, sovereign, and all-powerful (Jeremiah 32:17; Psalm 115:3).
Reciting scripture can be helpful in these moments, as it serves as your weapon against the enemy's attacks (Hebrews 4:12; Revelation 12:11; Psalm 119:105).
God’s Word Is The Source—Not Opinions
Here's an important thing to remember: according to Matthew 4:4, we don't live only because of what we eat—although food is needed for survival—but by what God says.
When we quote over our lives what God says in His word and align our lives with what He says, that is the life we will live and have. Food keeps your body alive, but God’s word keeps your life aligned and truly alive.
People need more than calories—they need truth from God. Jesus said this while being tempted by Satan after fasting 40 days. Satan told Him to turn stones into bread (Matthew 4:3; Luke 4:3). But Jesus refused because He knew we don’t survive by meeting physical needs. We survive by trusting and obeying God’s word.
Life depends on God’s word just as much—and more—than food. Food keeps you alive physically, but God’s word is what truly sustains your life.
Whether a person believes in God’s existence or not does not change the truth that He is the One who sustains all life by His word. Apart from Him, life would cease to exist. Even the lives of unbelievers are upheld, directed, and influenced by God.
God sustains all things by His word. Life continues because God holds it together by His word (Hebrews 1:3).
Everything exists in and through Him—believers or not. Paul said this to unbelievers in Athens, making the point that everyone’s life depends on God, regardless of belief (Acts 17:28).
God holds all of creation together. Without Him, nothing—life, order, or existence—could continue (Colossians 1:17).
God gives life and breath to all people. This explicitly includes unbelievers (Acts 17:25).
God’s sovereignty extends over all humanity. Human history, direction, and outcomes are not outside God’s control (Daniel 4:17).
Belief or unbelief in God does not sustain life—God does; His word upholds every breath, whether acknowledged or denied.
You Can’t Walk In Authority While Entertaining Doubt
We mustn’t allow anyone—not even ourselves—to diminish the authority God has given us. If you’re unsure about the authority you have in Christ, or if you know but aren’t sure how to walk in it, take time to study scriptures that show you your authority and speak them over your life, decree and declare them, and step into the authority God has entrusted to you, so that you too can operate in this level of power (of bringing the dead to life, setting the captive free), and even do greater works (John 14:12).
Let’s look at some of the authority that has been given to us.
1. Authority Over Demons & Evil Spirits
“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” — Luke 10:19
“These signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues.” — Mark 16:17
2. Authority to Heal
“He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.” — Matthew 10:1
“Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.” — Matthew 10:8
3. Authority Through Prayer and Faith
“Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” — Matthew 18:18
“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” — Matthew 21:22
Authority as Children of God
John 1:12 – “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
Romans 8:17 – “Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ.”
Galatians 4:7 – “So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.”
Authority in Spiritual Warfare
2 Corinthians 10:4–5 – “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
Ephesians 6:10–11 – “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
Romans 16:20 – “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.”
The reality is this: if we don’t know, understand, and walk in the authority God has given us, we will live a defeated life—marked by sickness, struggles, fear, worry, poverty, and a limited mindset. In other words, we risk living far below the abundant, victorious life that God intended for us when He sent Jesus to die for us (John 10:10).
Let’s not allow what God accomplished to go in vain. His crucifixion made a way for us to be restored to Him, giving everyone an opportunity—both those not yet saved and those who are—to live an extraordinary, victorious life. This life will not just possibly inspire others, but will draw them to want to know Jesus for themselves.
Dive deeply into the scriptures, set aside the distractions of daily life, and discover the profound truths about your identity in Christ.
As a child of the Sovereign Most High God, you are endowed with the authority of a king and priest. Embrace this truth, and let your life reflect the power and purpose bestowed upon you.

A call for salvation
When you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, His Spirit becomes one with yours. This is one of the greatest blessings of salvation. You no longer need to go through anyone else to reach God—because you and He are now united.
All you need to do is receive the gift of salvation by repenting of your sins, inviting Jesus into your life, and confessing Him as Lord. This involves acknowledging your sin and the need for forgiveness, believing that Jesus died for your sins and rose again, and then surrendering your life to Him.
As Romans 10:9 declares, “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” And 1 John 4:15 assures us, “If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.”
Another important step is to renounce the kingdom of darkness. By doing so, you are breaking any covenant or partnership with it and recommitting yourself to the Kingdom of Light—Jesus Christ.
When you take this step, you are saved and welcomed into God’s Kingdom—becoming a member of the family of Christ!
Here's a Prayer that you can pray to get saved:
"Jesus, I confess that You are Lord, and I believe in my heart that You died and rose again for my sins. I know that I am a sinner, and I repent and ask for Your forgiveness. I invite You to come into my heart and life, and I receive You as my personal Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Renounce the Kingdom of Darkness
Right now, I renounce and break all ties, covenants, and agreements with the kingdom of darkness, knowingly or unknowingly made. I reject Satan, all his works, and every influence of evil over my life.
Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Lead me, teach me, and establish me in Your purpose. From this day forward, I belong to Jesus. I am a child of God, and I walk in the light. In Jesus' name, Amen.
After this step, pray for guidance to find a ministry where you can grow spiritually, gain knowledge about the kingdom, and begin living the abundant life promised by Jesus.
