When the Bible Feels Confusing

Have you ever opened your Bible and felt like the words just weren’t sinking in?
You’re not alone—and the good news is, you’re not meant to understand it all on your own.
The Holy Spirit is your personal guide and teacher, sent to bring clarity, wisdom, and revelation as you read. Just like a loving parent breaking down big truths for a child, He meets you right where you are—and makes God's message come alive.

It’s important to remember that the Holy Spirit is the one who helps us understand what God is saying in the Bible, because He is our guide and teacher.
It’s a lot like listening to someone speak—there are times you might not fully comprehend what they’re trying to say, or understand them at all, and they do their best to try to make you understand.
In the same way, when you read the Bible, the Holy Spirit brings clarity. Unlike us who may not get the point across, God is wise and knows how to make a message stick. He helps you understand God’s message through illustrations, real-life examples, personal experiences, observations, and more.
Think about how we speak to children. When we explain something to them, especially if it’s complex, we naturally simplify it—breaking it down so they can understand. We speak in a way that makes sense to them, and the Holy Spirit does the same with us.
He brings meaning and understanding to the words of Scripture. He uses His own words in the Bible to teach and guide us, to lead us toward the best path in life, to impart wisdom, to motivate and encourage us, to grow and mature us spiritually. His goal is to help us live the kind of life that He deeply desires for us—a life far better than anything this world could ever offer or is capable of offering.
Consider, for example, the story of Jacob, later renamed Israel. His life was filled with hardship and struggle—he faced conflict with his brother Esau, was deceived by his father-in-law, and lived for 20 years in the dark, unaware that his son Joseph was still alive (Genesis 45:26–28; 46:1–4). Yet, despite all of this, everything God had promised to Jacob came to pass.
Now think of Jacob’s son, Joseph. Though he was a foreigner and a slave, God raised him up from bondage and placed him in a position of great authority in Egypt, where he ruled over the very people who once despised him and his heritage (Genesis 41:43–44, 55, 57).
Through the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit will reveal to you—through these powerful stories—that no matter what we face in life, with God, everything will ultimately work out for our good (Romans 8:28). He will also show us what He has done and what He is fully capable of doing in your own life, and how your faith will never be in vain.
And during the waiting period—while you are trusting God for His promises to come to pass—don’t waste that time in stress, worry, depression, frustration, impatience, anger, or any other negative emotions. Instead, spend it resting in His joy and peace, knowing that His timing is perfect and your breakthrough is coming.
So the next time you open your Bible to read, take a moment to pray and ask God to help you understand the meaning of what you're reading, why it was written, how it relates to our world today, and how does it apply to your own life.
Then trust that God the Holy Spirit is right there with you, providing understanding and insight into the Scriptures in a way that resonates and speaks directly to your life.

A call for salvation
When you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, His spirit will become one with yours. This is one of the greatest blessings of salvation. You don't have to go through someone else to get to God, as you and Him are now one.
All you need to do is receive the gift of salvation by repenting of your sins and inviting Jesus into your life, confessing Him as Lord. As Romans 10:9 declares, “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” And 1 John 4:15 assures us, “If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.” When you take this step, you are saved and welcomed into God’s Kingdom—becoming a part of the family of Christ!
Here's a Prayer that you can pray to get saved:
Jesus, I confess that You are Lord, and I believe in my heart that You died and rose again for my sins. I ask for Your forgiveness and receive You as my personal Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
After this step, pray for guidance to find a ministry where you can grow spiritually, gain knowledge about the kingdom, and begin living the abundant life promised by Jesus.
