Step Inside Your Mansion: How to Have a Deeper Relationship With God

“It’s time to go inside.”
Imagine owning a beautiful mansion but never actually living in it.
You have the keys. The house belongs to you, but you've never walked inside.
You might know there are beautiful rooms. You might have heard about the pool, the incredible kitchen, the spacious bedrooms, personal butler, and all the things the house has to offer. However, all you do is stand at the front door, holding the keys, while everything you've been given remains untouched.
But hearing about something isn't the same as experiencing it.
You have to go inside.
Some of our relationships with God are like this.
We know He is there. We believe in Him. We may go to church, pray occasionally, and even have a Bible sitting on our nightstand. But there is a difference between knowing God exist and personally knowing Him.
Think about it this way.
Imagine having a famous chef residing in your home. This isn't just any chef; it's someone who can create extraordinary dishes—meals that neither you nor anyone else could prepare on your own.
The kitchen is fully stocked, the ingredients are available, and the chef is prepared to cook. However, you never request them to do so.
Instead, you continue eating the same meals you've always eaten. You never sit at the table and experience what this chef could prepare for you. You don't even realize what you are missing because you've never tasted it.
But what happens when you finally decide to walk through the door?
You walk inside and discover that the house is far more beautiful than you imagined. You see breathtaking décor, exquisite furniture, rooms you didn't even know existed, and spaces designed for comfort and enjoyment. You walk outside and discover a pool and a Jacuzzi. You look into the garage and see luxury vehicles. There is even a staff there to help care for the home.
All of this was there the entire time.
You just hadn't gone inside.
Then you sit down at the dinner table as your server brings you the chef’s special dish, and the food is so delicious and satisfying that you feel like you’re experiencing something heavenly. You finally receive and enjoy what has been available to you all along. The experience is so satisfying, fulfilling, and wonderful that it feels beyond anything you could have imagined.
This is what it's like when you go beyond just knowing about Jesus and no longer remain at the doorway of your mansion.
Jesus said,
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10).
The abundant life Jesus offers is much deeper than one can fathom. It is a life where we experience a love so deep that, even as we feel it, it still leaves us amazed (Ephesians 3:19).
Think about someone you genuinely want to know.
You don't build a relationship with them by simply knowing their name. You spend time with them. You talk. You listen. You learn what they love. You share your thoughts. You begin to recognize their voice. You seek to know their heart.
The same applies to how we relate to God.
The more time we spend with Him, the more we begin to recognize His character, nature, His heart, and understand His ways.
This is how you go deeper with God.
Are You Standing at the Door?
You can believe in Jesus without truly pursuing a relationship with Him. Having access to God is not the same as experiencing Him. The question is: Are you actually using the keys you’ve been given?

Prayer isn't just about bringing God a list of everything we need. It's about relationship. It's about spending time with Him and becoming enthralled in His presence.
Think about someone you love. If you only spoke to them when you needed something, how deep would that relationship become?
Or, imagine calling a close friend only when you needed a favor, asking for what you needed, and then hanging up without ever having a conversation.
That wouldn't be much of a relationship.
Relationships grow when we spend time together. And the same is true with God. These aren't simply religious things we're supposed to do because we're Christians. They're ways of drawing closer to the One who loves us.
When you open the Bible, you're not simply reading words on a page. Your learning about who God is, who you are, and how Christ loves you.
When you pray, you're not talking into an empty room. You're speaking directly to God. He hears you, comforts you in difficult times, and will guide you toward solutions.
When you worship, you're not simply singing lyrics. You're opening yourself to experience His presence in a way few get to experience it.
And the more you do these things, the more familiar His presence becomes.
It's like living in that mansion.
At first, you may only notice the entrance. Then you discover the living room. Then the kitchen. Then the backyard. Then another room. Then another.
The longer you live there, the more you discover.
There was always more to the house. You simply hadn't explored it yet. And your relationship with Jesus can be the same way.
Being in a relationship with God is like being with a person who always tries to outdo their expression of love toward you. Every day they find different ways of showing it.
Just when you believe they have shown the greatest extent of their love, they offer even more. And when you thought you have reached the pinnacle of God's love, you'll realize you merely scratched the surface.
God looks at and desires your heart. Your heart is the vessel into which God will pour Himself, enabling you to live a life beyond your expectations (1 Corinthians 2:9).
There are depths of His love you may not have experienced yet. There are things in His Word you may not have discovered yet. There are prayers you haven't prayed yet. There are moments in His presence you haven't encountered yet. There are things He wants to teach you, reveal to you, and develop within you. And you won't discover them by standing at the door.
You have to go inside.
Maybe you've been a Christian for years, but if you're honest, you've remained near the doorway. You believe in Jesus, but you haven't really taken the time to know Him deeply. You have a Bible, but you rarely open it or take the time to discover the depth of His Word. You go to church and hear others talk about their relationship with God, but you haven't developed that closeness for yourself. You hear people talk about God's peace, His direction, His presence, and His voice, and you wonder, How are they experiencing that?
It's because they've gone deeper.
And you can too.
You don't need to know everything. You don't need to have the perfect prayer. You simply need to start spending time with Jesus.
Open the Bible and discover how the Bible isn’t just information. You learn life lessons. And it's what God uses to shape your life for the better.
Inside, you'll discover who God is, His power, His abilities, His wisdom, and just how much control He truly has. You'll realize that the Bible is not just stories, but real-life events that you too can experience.
Sit with Him.
Worship Him.
Ask Him questions.
Listen.
Wake up tomorrow and do it again.
Then do it the next day.
Little by little, what was once unfamiliar becomes familiar.
The Bible begins to be your source and guide for life.
Prayer stops being something you do out of obligation and becomes something you desire because you want to spend time with God.
Worship becomes more than a song. It becomes a source of healing and joy—an escape from the things that steal your joy.
And your relationship with Jesus becomes more than something you say you have. It becomes something you experience and desire above any other relationship.
That's what it means to go deeper.
Because you can spend your entire life standing outside a mansion, looking at the beautiful doors, knowing you have the keys, and still never experience what's inside.
Or you can turn the key. Open the door. Walk in. And begin discovering what has been available to you all along.
Jesus is inviting you closer.
It's time to go inside.

Take the First Step: Receive Salvation
When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, His Spirit comes to live in you. You no longer have to rely on anyone else to reach God—He is with you, guiding every step.
Here’s how to receive this gift:
Repent of your sins and acknowledge your need for forgiveness.
Believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose again.
Invite Jesus into your life and commit to following Him.
Confess Him as Lord over your life.

Renounce the Kingdom of Darkness
To fully embrace your new life in Christ, renounce any ties to darkness and recommit yourself to God:
"Right now, I renounce and break all ties, covenants, and agreements with the kingdom of darkness, knowingly or unknowingly made. I reject Satan, all his works, and every influence of evil over my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Lead me, teach me, and establish me in Your purpose. From this day forward, I belong to Jesus. I am a child of God, and I walk in the light. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
Grow in Your Faith
After taking this step, seek a church or ministry where you can grow spiritually, learn more about God’s Kingdom, and start walking in the abundant life He promised (John 10:10).
