God’s Perfect Timing — Part 1: There Is a Time for Everything

When you understand the season you are in, you can stop fighting what God is doing.
There Is a Time for Everything
One of the hardest things about life is knowing that not everything is supposed to happen right now.
We can know what we want, pray about it, prepare for it, and still find ourselves in a season where nothing seems to be moving. That can be frustrating, especially when it feels like everyone around us is moving forward.
But Scripture gives us a different way to look at life. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”
That means life is not one long, unchanging season. There are times to begin, times to build, times to grow, times to let go, and times to wait. The challenge is learning to recognize which season you are actually in.
You Cannot Force One Season to Become Another
Think about nature.
You cannot make winter produce the same things spring produces. You cannot demand a harvest from a seed that was just planted.
Each season has something it is meant to do.
The same is true in our lives. There are seasons when God may be opening doors, and there are seasons when He may be teaching us, correcting us, strengthening us, or asking us to let something go.
The problem comes when we expect a season to give us what it was never designed to give us.
You may be trying to produce results when God is developing your foundation. You may be looking for an open door when the lesson right now is learning how to walk faithfully through the door you already have. You may be asking for a new chapter while God is still dealing with something in the current one.
Recognizing your season can change the way you respond to it.
Joseph is a powerful example of this.
Joseph Did Not Live Every Part of His Story at Once
God gave Joseph dreams that pointed toward a future he could not yet understand. But Joseph did not wake up the next morning and step into that future.
There was a process.
He went from the favor of his father's house to the pit, from the pit to slavery, from slavery to prison, and eventually from prison to a position of authority in Egypt.
God knew the hearts of Joseph and his brothers
God knew Joseph would share his dream (Genesis 37:5–10), and He knew his brothers would be jealous (Genesis 37:11), especially since Joseph was his father's favorite (Genesis 37:3). Even in the midst of all these circumstances and what would come from them, God, in His might, was able to use it and still fulfill His purpose.
God already knew what Joseph would freely do and what his brothers would freely do before those events happened. Yet, He still was able to use those circumstances to accomplish His greater purpose.
Each part of Joseph's story looked different.
If Joseph had judged his entire future by the pit, he would have had every reason to believe his life was going in the wrong direction. But the pit was not the conclusion of his story.
Genesis 50:20 gives us the perspective Joseph eventually gained: “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.”
What looked like separate, painful events became part of a much bigger story.
Ask a Better Question
Sometimes the question we ask is, “Why isn't God doing what I want?”
But another question may be more helpful:
“What is God asking me to do in this season?”
That question moves your attention from what you cannot control to what you can control.
If this is a season of learning, learn. If it is a season of building, build. If it is a season of healing, allow God to work in you. If it is a season of opportunity, do not sleep through it. If it is a season of letting go, do not keep holding onto what God is asking you to release.
You do not have to understand every season to live it well.
Do Not Rush the Season You Are In
There will always be something ahead that you cannot see yet. That is part of walking with God.
Proverbs 3:5–6 tells us to trust in the Lord rather than leaning completely on our own understanding, and to acknowledge Him in all our ways.
You may not know exactly what the next season will look like. But you can be faithful in this one.
The goal is not to make every season last longer or shorter. The goal is to respond to God correctly while you are in it.
Your life is not behind because your current season looks different from someone else's. You are not required to live according to another person's calendar.
There is a time for everything.
So instead of constantly asking, “When will my season change?” ask, “How can I honor God in the season I am in?”
That shift can change everything.

Renounce the Kingdom of Darkness
To fully embrace your new life in Christ, renounce any ties to darkness and recommit yourself to God:
"Right now, I renounce and break all ties, covenants, and agreements with the kingdom of darkness, knowingly or unknowingly made. I reject Satan, all his works, and every influence of evil over my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Lead me, teach me, and establish me in Your purpose. From this day forward, I belong to Jesus. I am a child of God, and I walk in the light. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
Grow in Your Faith
After taking this step, seek a church or ministry where you can grow spiritually, learn more about God’s Kingdom, and start walking in the abundant life He promised (John 10:10).
