How to Avoid Being Deceived—By the Deceiver

Discover how God steps in to defend us when the enemy tries to mislead us with lies.

Strategies for Spiritual Warfare
I remember a time when the enemy planted this thought and he put it in the first person as if it was my own thought, and he said this word for word: "I wish I was like my brother who only has to show up to the event and enjoy himself and not have to deal with the pressures I'm dealing with."
To give some context, God had given a mandate for the family that was part of giving us back what was stolen (Joel 2:25) and ushering us into a season of blessings, giving us double for the trouble (Isaiah 61:7; Zechariah 9:12), and a new beginning. And i was in constant battle because the enemy was doing everything to not allow this even to happen because of it's spiritual significance. Basically doing this event was going to change our entire families members lives for the better. From poverty to wealth and struggle to ease.
But before that statement about my brother (which by the way had nothing to do with my brother he was just using the though to impact me), the enemy made sure to have me think about the ease my brother would have, showing up to this event, because neither of my siblings knew what was happening behind the scenes and honestly, I didn't want them to. I truly wanted them to just enjoy themselves without having to think of anything, but I wanted that too.
As I was just about to agree with the statement of the enemy, it's like God the Holy Spirit jumped in and said that's not true. It came as my own, but I knew it was God because of what He told me after.
He explained to me how the enemy wants me to believe the lie because if I don't do the things God wants me to do, I will never break free from what the enemy has me trapped in and how I won't experience what it means to be rewarded by God when we do the things He asks us to do.
Ultimately, our enemy—the devil and his demons—wants us to play it safe, retreat, and not fight (in this case, his lies), so we will miss the blessings that come with obedience and doing what God needs us to do so we can transition from one season to another. "Playing it safe" would cause me to lose and never advance, become great, or see the wonders and miraculous move of God in my life.
God then reminded me of a Scripture, "when the enemy comes in like a flood..." As He said this to me, it prompted me to look it up to get the entire verse and to seek its meaning concerning me, and while I was about to look it up, He reminded me of the passage with Jesus and Satan where Satan tried to tempt Jesus three times while He was fasting and how Jesus counterattacked and shut down everything Satan said with the Word of God until Satan left. It reminds me of another scripture speaking about when we resist the devil, he will flee (James 4:7).
Let me pause and stress why it’s necessary to stay in God’s Word daily, because what I’m about to tell you will show exactly why.
God the Holy Spirit allowed me to see how just like Jesus, we must know the Word well, engrave it in our hearts (Deuteronomy 6:6; Proverbs 7:3; Jeremiah 31:33; Hebrews 8:10), so it can be used in times of lies, deceit, deception, and attack (in this case, attack against my destiny) from the enemy.
So as I read Isaiah 59:19 "When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him," God revealed, when we are in a fight, the enemy wants us to believe that we have to be the one to figure out what to do; in other words, we are alone in the fight. He then explained, if we are His children, we just need to realize that all we need to do is take our fight to Him (Philippians 4:6), then allow Him to fight our battles as He promised He would (Exodus 14:14). And our role will be to both have faith and allow God the Holy Spirit to lead us (Romans 8:14). Because as Romans 8:14 puts it, if we are God's children, then we are being led by God.
This revelation should remove any fear the enemy will throw our way, doubt that he will forcefully try to have us accept, and self-efforts or self-moves we make in an attempt to become victorious in our fight. But God is saying we don't have to do anything except what He tells us. In the meantime, do what Exodus 14:13 says and "...stand still..." take our position and be at peace (2 Chronicles 20:17), and watch and observe what God will do.
The main point of this is to show everyone, if we read God's word, apply it to our lives by any means necessary (James 1:22), even if we have to cry out to God until we see change, even if we have to prophesy His words to our circumstance, whatever it takes, refuse to back down, refuse to listen to the enemy's lies, and agree with what God says—even if your life depends on it.
Yes, you will need to defend your faith, but not by fighting the battle yourself. Instead, allow God to handle it, and be someone who steadfastly maintains their faith, because faith in God is extremely powerful. It gives you the kind of life described in the Bible, and even more.
Listen, when you live a life worrying about nothing because you know everything is taken care of, as the priest and child of God that you are, you live life differently (Matthew 6:33; 1 Peter 2:9; Revelation 1:6).

A call for salvation
When you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, His Spirit becomes one with yours. This is one of the greatest blessings of salvation. You no longer need to go through anyone else to reach God—because you and He are now united.
All you need to do is receive the gift of salvation by repenting of your sins, inviting Jesus into your life, and confessing Him as Lord. This involves acknowledging your sin and need for forgiveness, believing that Jesus died for your sins and rose again, and surrendering your life to Him.
As Romans 10:9 declares, “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” And 1 John 4:15 assures us, “If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.”
Another important step is to renounce the kingdom of darkness. By doing so, you are breaking any covenant or partnership with it and recommitting yourself to the Kingdom of Light—Jesus Christ.
When you take this step, you are saved and welcomed into God’s Kingdom—becoming a member of the family of Christ!
Here's a Prayer that you can pray to get saved:
"Jesus, I confess that You are Lord, and I believe in my heart that You died and rose again for my sins. I know that I am a sinner, and I repent and ask for Your forgiveness. I invite You to come into my heart and life, and I receive You as my personal Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Renounce the Kingdom of Darkness
Right now, I renounce and break all ties, covenants, and agreements with the kingdom of darkness, knowingly or unknowingly made. I reject Satan, all his works, and every influence of evil over my life.
Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Lead me, teach me, and establish me in Your purpose. From this day forward, I belong to Jesus. I am a child of God, and I walk in the light. In Jesus' name, Amen.
After this step, pray for guidance to find a ministry where you can grow spiritually, gain knowledge about the kingdom, and begin living the abundant life promised by Jesus.
