Your Destiny Is In Your Mouth, so open wide and speak it.
Can how I think and speak affect my life?
Thoughts and words are powerful because our thinking influences our behavior.
They affect how we feel and respond to situations, and since every day we are faced with the choice to accept positive thoughts or negative thoughts, what we say, and think is important.
The way you think determines how you act.
Have you notice how your thinking affects the way your day goes? This is because our thoughts are connected to everything in our lives.
Suppose you are a supervisor and you are given a next day deadline for a project. If you complain that you were given a task at the last minute, it will put you in a bad mood. Ultimately, this attitude will bring on stress causing the project to become unbearable, which eventually affects your performance and your health.
But, if you refuse to accept the urge to complain and instead say, "I will do my best," it will help you focus on the solution to the task enabling you to reach the deadline without being overwhelmed or stressed.
If you grew up in an environment where you witness strife, as you become an adult and start your own relationships you may notice you display similar behavior and conversation patterns. Here is a case where your environment influences your thinking, and your thinking influences your actions.
And if you grew up in a violent household, the experience could cause anxiety. Perhaps your guardian criticized themselves and you have adapted the same conduct. This can cause insecurity and having a low perception of self, leaving you feeling inadequate and lacking confidence.
Maybe you are successful but feel worthless. Or maybe you're beautiful but feel unattractive. Whatever it may be, our minds can either steer us to destiny or steer us to disappointment (see Proverbs 4:23).Can you see how powerful our thoughts are? And can you see how important it is to control them?
Your mind is a Battleground.
If we are not taught the right way to think then we will succumb to wrong ways of thinking, speaking, and acting. Your thinking is the reason most of you are where you are in life right now.
"We sow a thought and reap an action. We sow an action and reap a habit. We sow a habit and reap a character; we sow a character and reap a destiny"
If you have ever battled with depression, then you know how far accepting wrong thoughts can take you. The mental battle you experience is sometimes beyond one’s control.
The book of Colossians chapter 3 verse 8 helps us to understand the kinds of thinking we should avoid to live a happier life. You will be able to take control of any thought that is negative and think only of thoughts that are positive, and edifying.
So, what are you feeding your mind?
When you start to think like God, a change takes place. Through the Scriptures, you will be able to replace those negative thoughts with God's truth as you learn who you are and find your purpose. You become an overcomer because you are no longer influenced by negative thinking.
It is important to understand that when a thought enters our mind, we should examine it based on truth, and determine if we should continue down that path or reject that thought and replace it with another.
The Word of God will show you how unseen thoughts produce visible consequences.
Romans 12:2 says, "Don't change yourselves to be like the people of this world (how others think), but let God change you inside with a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to understand and accept what God wants for you."
Because of our experiences we cannot trust our own thinking. We have biases, cognitive shortcomings, we are selfish without realizing it, fickle, easily manipulated, and we do not know everything.
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? - Jeremiah 17:9
What God wants for you is to live a successful, positive, influential, and impactful life. While 2 Corinthians 10:4,5 tells us how our adversary wants to hold you in bondage by your thinking by lying and making you feel worthless.
But you are precious in the sight of God. And by thinking like God, you will have a happier, fulfilled, meaningful, and purposeful life. It will enable you to have a long life, protection, energy, sound sleep, joy, happiness, be fearless, full of wisdom, discretion, honor, respect, success, wealth, favor, and an abundant life.
Take every thought captive!
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ - 2 Corinthians 10:5.
We have control over what we choose to think. But how can we control what we think if we do not know the right way to think? The Scriptures will guide you on how to think and show you the benefits of thinking like God.
God can show you your reality and He is the key to accessing your future. Our Creator is able to free you from the control of wrong thinking and speaking. This ability to be free only comes from salvation that will give you access to it.
God's Word is reality and forever. It is true, accurate, and precise. It is error-free, constant, and exact. It has existence and substance. It is alive and it is the way of life. When you make it the bedrock of your life you will not break, fail, or fall (Psalm 119:165).
Everything God says and is saying, is true, right, and lasting (Psalm 119:160). It is your daily bread and your life source. So, indulge in it to obtain strength, health, wisdom, love, and peace.
God's Word is everything - literally. It is your go to for safety, and sanity. It is life! Feed from it and you will never be hungry. Drink it and you will never be thirsty. Breath it and speak it, and you will always succeed. Live it and you will walk in authority and power. It is your life source and the source of your existence (Psalm 119:175).
And if you have God's Spirit residing in you then you are at no excuse for your future not being successful. God is someone who sees your past, present, and future all at once, and if He is on the inside of you then you have access to your future too.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things - Philippians 4:8
If you understand the power of your word, then you will not let any kind of word come out of your mouth. You will be careful with what you say during seasons of struggle, disappointments, and hard times. You will say what you want instead of what you don't want, then back it up with a sure thing- the Scriptures.
When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Alos, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark - James 3:3-5.
Although our tongues are small in comparison to other members of our bodies it has so much power over our lives. Just like a spark can cause a great forest fire, our mouths can cause great problems or great success. It is so powerful it can create death or life. It can cause things to happen or stop happening (see Proverbs 18:21).
What you say steers your life where to go. It dictates the course of your life and determines how situations will play out. Start steering your life in the right direction by saying the right things, then your world will be framed by what you say.
Where the mind goes the person follows.
